Description
Immortalised in one of the most famous scenes of the movie The Longest Day, the town of Sainte-Mère-Eglise is now one of the main places of interest of the Normandy landings. But beyond the movie, on D-Day, Sainte-Mère-Eglise became one of the most crucial objectives to capture for the men of the 82nd Airborne.

Really enjoyed it. Despite visiting SME twice before I had never heard so much about the post-landing defence before. That was special.
I found I lost where you were talking about a few times in the hamlets & villages outside but that’s because I’m a detail fanatic so it’s excusable. Thanks again.
You’ve prompted more research from me especially on 1) amount, type and disposition of German hardware involved – the photos of the two Sturmgeshutz III were helpful. 2) Intelligence gathering 3) the paras identities & stories of who landed in the square. Nice touch.
Excellent. Good use of all media and especially useful for the regular reorientation and pointing out specific features for orientation. Many thanks.
Excellent tour, Romain is a very knowledgeable guide.
Very good overview. Paints a vivid picture.
