The main attack, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Cole and his men of the 502nd PIR, would have to cross several bridges on a causeway exposed to the German fire. Stuck for hours in a difficult situation, Lieutenant-Colonel Cole will led his men in an incredible bayonet charge, which earning him the Medal of Honor for his gallantry.
