Description
In January 1812 Lord Wellington’s Anglo-Portuguese undertook the siege of the fortified Spanish city of Cuidad Rodrigo. What would follow was a brutal two weeks, with forts that must be stormed, walls that must be breached and a city to be taken in order for Spain to be liberated from French occupation.
Cuidad Rodrigo was a well-designed Fort, bristling with cannon that had already undergone one long seige. After initial fighting over outlying forts, two breaches were made into the city walls, through which Wellington would throw his men in a frontal assault at night. The men that survived the hell that was the storming of the city went on a deadly rampage, lasting the whole night attacking French soldiers and Spanish civilians alike. This virtual tour will take you to stunning Spanish scenery that was torn asunder by the roaring of guns and screams of men fighting for the fate of the Iberian Peninsula.
